Egypt can add another accolade to our list. Mohamed Elshorbagy is that reason ladies and gentleman. He is officially the number one squash player in the world after defeating Gregory Gaultier of France 3-2 on Sunday at the British Open.

"It’s amazing for me to win such a prestigious event, especially in front of Jahangir Khan," Elshorbagy told squashsite.com. Also stating that his goal this season was to reach the number one status which is only achievable by winning the British Open and World Champs, you can say he is a man of his word.

After talking to his coach Jonah Barrington, a man who has won that trophy six times, it seems to have motivated the player even more, so watch out world!

It was a close match though. Even after winning the first set, Elshorbagy consecutively lost the next two which is when he decided to play tougher and began hitting the ball more aggressively causing a two set win streak for him giving him the title.

It was Elshorbagy's fourth win against the Frenchman in 13 games as Gaultier won 9 games against the Egyptian player. So this just goes to show don’t give up and always stay dedicated, good things come to those who do.
