'Arabs Crash Hollywood' With Egyptianised Movie Posters

Egyptians show the Oscars some unrequited love - in the most Egyptian fashion, of course.

Staff Writer

The Revenant, The Room, Mad Max, and Star Wars are just a handful of films set to get some Oscar love next Sunday, February 28th. This year, Palestinian Director Basil Khalil’s Ave Maria and British-Jordanian Naji Abu Nowar’s Theeb have been nominated for Best Short Film and Best Foreign Film, respectively. While we are certainly happy for (read: envious of) our fellow Arabs, we can’t help but feel a little left out! Oshan 14 is just as good, God damn it! #OscarsSoWhite, indeed!

Instead of boycotting the Academy Awards, however, we have chosen to embrace Hollywood’s biggest night with our signature brand of endearment. Cinemoz's Facebook page is bringing back their Arabs Crash Hollywood campaign for the third time, this time Egyptianising this year’s Oscar contenders by giving each its own Egyptian poster and title – The Revenant became Rage3 b 2ezn Allah and The Room became El 7ogra, but our favourite is Max El Magnoun!

And that, dear friends, is how you stick it to the man and show them tinseltown execs who's boss!
