Environ Adapt Are Cleaning Up Wadi Degla And They Want You To Join In

This Saturday, Environ Adapt, along with many other partners and members of the community, will be taking part in a massive clean-up campaign of the Wadi Degla Protectorate to prepare for The TriFactory’s triathlon.

The Wadi Degla Protectorate is about to get a massive clean-up soon, and it’s all going to be thanks to the efforts of Environ Adapt and a host of many other partners.

The nature preserve which lies just outside of Maadi, is quite a popular destination for those who love the outdoors. Many love to go there to hike or have a barbecue, and the best part of it is, it’s right on the outskirts of Cairo, yet still far enough to feel you have truly left the choking metropolis.

There is one thing which really bogs the supposedly “protected” land though. It’s strewn with litter. Many people come here to have picnics and barbecues yet simply have no respect for the sanctity of the area, so they throw their rubbish on the ground here. Poor law enforcement and a lack of bins only make the problem worse.

Many of you will be delightfully pleased to know that Environ Adapt, along with Wild Guanabana and The TriFactory, are going to hold a massive clean-up project of the Wadi Degla Valley on the 30th of September. Part of the initiative is to help TriFactory’s preparations for a triathlon they will be hosting in Wadi Degla on the 13th of October. Several other organisations and institutions are going to be taking part as well, such as the American City International School, Thebes American College, and Red Bull.

The best part though, is that they want you, yes you, reading this right now, to volunteer for the tidy-up campaign of the 12km valley. Even those who will be participating in the race are going to be there. They need all the help they can get because the protectorate is quite big and quite littered, so why not go partake? It’s a great opportunity to give back if you care about the environment but that’s not all. Free giveaways will be handed out by M2 Developments, another one of the partners, who will also be providing Jeeps for transport around Wadi Degla. Venture Group will also be holding a massive delicious barbecue for that all-important sustenance. No need to bring your own water either, as FLO will be providing all the hydration you need throughout the day.

The clean-up also signifies the launch of Environ Adapt’s #Lets_Make_A_Difference campaign to continuously involve companies, stakeholders, NGOs, and schools to raise awareness of environmental issues. Many events under the same banner will be coming in the future to rally as many participants as possible to take part doing good for the environment.

The clean-up will take place between the hours of 9am and 2pm, so it won’t be a long day. You’ll be done in plenty of time to enjoy the end of your weekend before you have to wake up to those Sunday morning blues. Don’t use “wanting to lie in” as an excuse. That’s SOO 2000s. Get up and take action!
