European Union to Provide Egypt with EUR 1 Billion in Loans & Grants

The Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Christian Berger, has revealed that Egypt will soon be the recipient of grants, loans and partnership programmes worth EUR 1 billion from donors in the European Union, including the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.


The European Union expects that this would create opportunities for various investments, which could be worth EUR 7,700,000.


National projects funded with support from the European Union include the tram line project in Alexandria, and the third 'Green Line' in the Cairo Metro, as well as many other projects in healthcare, sanitation, irrigation, agriculture and electricity.
