Farouk Al-Fishawy to be Honoured at Alexandria International Film Festival

The Egyptian actor will be honoured alongside a few other big names, who will have a book issued in commemoration of their deaths.

Farouk Al-Fishawy to be Honoured at Alexandria International Film Festival

Egyptian actor, Farouk Al-Fishawy, is set to be honoured at the 34th edition Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean countries, alongside a number of other local stars and filmmakers.

Taking place from the 3rd of October to the 8th, the festival will be honouring veteran artist, Fishawy, who’s meant to be have his biography, "Art = Life" written by novelist Adel Saad.  Alongside Fishawy, legendary music composer and pianist, Omar Khairat, will be honoured and has a documentary in the making. The documentary will touch on his musical projects and serves as a retelling of his successful career. Titled “The Music Magician”, the educational documentary will be written by Kadri El-Haggar.

Film director, Ahmed Yehya, film photographer Maher Rady, and veteran film critic Magda Maurice will be also be honoured for their work.

The festival’s management is set to have 15 books issued throughout the programs and the activities, three of which will be about the late, Nadia Lotfy, Soad Hosny and the late composer, Mohamed Fawzy and two of which be focused on the late Yussef Shahin. 

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the New Cinema Group, the festival will also be issuing three books, one of which studies the innovative ideas young generations will be bringing to the film industry.
