The Ministry of Higher Education showed that universities experienced a 117% surge in foreign enrolments compared to 2019/2020.
The Ministry of Higher Education revealed that Egyptian universities experienced a 117% surge in foreign enrolments for the 2023/2024 academic year, up to 26,000 enrolments compared to 12,000 enrolments during the 2019/2020 academic year.
The students mostly hailed from Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, India and Nigeria. As part of their future efforts to attract foreign enrolments, the ministry looks to target students from China, Malaysia, Iraq, Qatar and Bahrain over the next few years.
The 'Study in Egypt' website and apps were credited for streamlining the application process for foreign students, giving them access to electronic admission and an easier way to submit documents directly to universities.
