Higher Education Spreads Across Egypt With New Universities

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development released their plan to build new educational facilities across Egypt over the next year. Public investments of about EGP 69.2 billion will be directed towards the educational services sector during the 2022/2023 fiscal year, bringing investment up by 23% compared to 2021/2022. 

As part of these plans, the ministry will digitise exams at 154 test centres of public universities, and launch six new technological universities for 22,500 students overall, bringing the total number of technological universities in Egypt to nine.

These new technical universities will be located in 6th of October City, New Assiut, New Taiba in Luxor, East Port Said, Samanoud in Gharbia, and Borg El Arab in Alexandra.

As for private universities, the ministry will spend EGP 7.4 billion to launch universities in Zagazig, Benha, Beni Suef, Mansoura, Assiut, Helwan, New Valley, Suez, Minya and Menoufia, which will be able to hold 150,000 students in total.
