The 800-year-old Baybars Al-Banduqdari mosque is now open to receive visitors and worshippers after years of restoration. This historic mosque is one of the largest and oldest mosques in Egypt, and is located in Al-Zaher square in Downtown Cairo.
The restoration project was funded by the government of Kazakhstan, under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Although the project originally began in 2007, it was halted multiple times over the years.
