Horses in Luxor are Getting Diapers Ahead of Peak Tourism Season

Governor of Luxor Abdel-Mottaleb Mamdouh Emara has announced an initiative to provide 500 diapers for horses to carriage owners to protect the city’s streets from animal waste. This measure is part of a broader effort to maintain the cleanliness and appeal of Luxor, a key tourist destination.

The initiative aligns with the governor's directives to preserve the environment and ensure the health and safety of Luxor’s residents. The governor also stressed that it would help to improve the aesthetics of the horse-drawn carriages, particularly ahead of peak tourist season. Horse-drawn carriages are a distinctive feature of Luxor, providing unique tours along the Nile Corniche and through the city’s streets.

Major General Dr. Ali El-Sherbiny, head of the city of Luxor, emphasised the importance of timely compliance by carriage owners. He instructed them to collect the diapers from the union and install them within ten days. Failure to comply will result in enforcement of environmental regulations, with violators facing legal repercussions.
