Inside the World's Largest Book Fair Logos Hope in Port Said

Carrying the largest seafaring book fair in the world, Logos Hope ships have been bridging literary, cultural and physical borders, touring more than 150 countries and 480 port calls since they first set sail in 1950. On January 4th, one of these ships docked in Port Said, giving us an opportunity to check it out for ourselves. Combining a winter weekend escape and a curious peek at the book fair’s extensive collection of 150,000 books, we headed to Port Said and it’s safe to say our inner bibliophiles had a field day.

Within the giant ship’s deck, a curiosity-inducing space has been created bringing together Egyptians from all walks of life seeking out stories and diverse perspectives. As a nonprofit organisation, Logos Hope organises floating tours around the world to champion a mission of cross-cultural exchange.

The fair is running until January 23rd, with a EGP 5 entry fee.
