Kharga Officially Named New Valley's First Green City

The Minister of Environment, Dr Yasmine Fouad, officially dubbed Kharga as the first green city in the New Valley governorate.

Situated atop the highest peak of Nadoura hill, the city succeeded in applying a system that safely disposes of waste and expanded its green spaces to include trees and greenery in all parts of the city. Kharga also replaced components that are harmful to the environment and applied a beneficial system to sustain public hygiene.

As part of the “Plant a Palm” initiative, launched by the governor of New Valley, Minister Yasmin Fouad will embark on a tour to oversee the campaign, as well as inspect a number of undertakings including the Natural Silk Oasis and greenhouses projects.
