Kiteloop Heads to Sahel's Riviera Beach

Packing up their colourful kites and hitting the North Coast, we find out about Kiteloop's Eid beginners' course.

One of the fastest growing sports in Egypt, the joys of kitesurfing are on everyone’s lips. Kiteloop, one of Egypt’s first and foremost kitesurfing hubs, has become somewhat of a mecca for extreme watersports fanatics, filling Ras Sudr’s sky with colourful kites and its beaches with cool surfer dudes. But with everyone migrating north for the summer, they're hitting Sahel with a seasonal kitesurfing hub at Riviera Beach.

Kiteloop’s Karim Khashab explains that kitesurfing’s popularity is aided by the fact that it requires little more than standard equipment and nature’s blessing, saying it’s “almost the only extreme sport that does not depend on anything but the wind.” Setting up shop on the sea at Hacienda Bay’s Riviera Beach, they’re offering beginners’ courses so that you can get acquainted with the sport over the Eid break. The eight-hour course will introduce you to the basics of the sport, and get you up on your feet and surfing in no time.

The course is suited to anyone over the age of nine, and the eight hours of training will be spread over two or three days to suit your schedule. At 2000 LE for the course, it’s a great way to learn something new this summer, or keep the kids occupied while you soak up the rays.
