After weeks of competition, Lara Debbane has been crowned Miss Egypt 2014 and will go on to represent the country in Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss Universe.

Meet Egypt's Newest Beauty Queen

The country's newest beauty queen has been crowned at this year's Miss Egypt pageant. Lara Debbane, 20, scooped the top prize during a ceremony held in Sharm el-Sheikh on Friday.

Debbane was amongst 18 finalists chosen to compete for the crown following pre-final contest that was held  on September 19th. The pretty brunette appeared in traditional bedouin dress for a segment of the show.

Ms Debbane will now go on to represent Egypt in Miss Universe while Amina Ashraf - who was crowned Miss Egypt World 2014 - will represent the country in Miss World.

Meanwhile Nancy Magdy was crowned Miss Egypt Earth 2014 and will be representing Egypt in Miss Earth.

The first and second place runner-up spots went to Heba Hisham and Shaimaa Bakr respectively.

Ms Debbane's win follows her completion of a grueling a training programme which put would-be beauty queens through the paces.

Contest spokesman Kareem Hussein said: “In addition to being crowned Miss Egypt and having the privilege of wearing the 2014 Miss Egypt sash, the winner will be given a car and jewellery.”
