Ministry of Health Aims for 70% Vaccination Against COVID-19 by June

These efforts are paired up with the arrival of new drugs that are designed to help in the fight against COVID-19.

Cairo Scene

The Ministry of Health and Population has announced their plans to vaccinate 70% of Egypt's population by June 2022. Thus far, 42% of the population has already been vaccinated, with hopes of achieving a form of herd immunity by the second half of the year.

These efforts are paired up with the arrival of new drugs that are designed to help in the fight against COVID-19, such as Evusheld, an antibody treatment by AstraZeneca for immunocompromised patients, Molnupiravir, a drug by Merck for patients who have contracted mild to moderate COVID-19, and Paxlovid, a similar medication by Pfizer. Evusheld is currently being provided to patients for free at hospitals, while three local companies are manufacturing doses of Molnupiravir.
