Born and raised in Assiut, Ghanem’s name will now emblazon a school complex in his home governorate and help raise funds to it through Misr El Kheir foundation.
The Misr El Kheir Foundation, one of the largest charitable NGOs in Egypt, has renamed a school complex in Assiut after the iconic comedian Samir Ghanem, who passed away last Thursday May 20th, 2021.
Born and raised in Assiut, Ghanem’s name was made famous throughout Egypt for his light-hearted comedy, and for his cinematic roles in classics like ‘Fatouta’. Now his name will be used to support education in his home governorate, with Misr El Kheir having set up a ‘sadaqa jariyah’ charity fund in his honour to continuously finance the Samir Ghanem school complex.
