Mohamed Salah Wins African Player of the Year Award

Mohamed Salah Wins African Player of the Year Award

Egyptian superstar footballer Mohamed Salah has been named the ‘Men’s Best Player in CAF 2021’ in the International Federation of Football History & Statistics’ Mens Continental Awards for 2021. Phew, that was a mouthful.

The new title doesn’t surprise us in the least, because Salah is quite literally the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history with 111 goals made in 174 appearances.

Back in September, Liverpool FC named him as one of their top 10 legends. Egypt’s own Ministry of Education has even added him in the national curriculum for elementary students.

Other Africans who made it onto the list include Senegal’s Edouard Mendy as Best Goalkeeper, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez as Best Playmaker, and South Africa’s Victor Gomes as Best Referee.

Mo Salah is currently in talks to renew his contract for the next four years with Liverpool FC, asking for GBP 117 million from the club. If signed, he will be one of the highest paid footballers in the world.
