The Ministry of Interior has recently announced new regulations regarding national ID photos for Saudi citizens, stating that facial features must be free of cosmetics that may otherwise cause changes in the person’s appearance.
In 2023, the Saudi Ministry of Civil Service deployed 22 mobile units across the Kingdom in remote areas with no access to civil affairs to make the process of obtaining or renewing national identity cards more accessible. Meanwhile, Saudi citizens can also obtain or renew their national IDs via the Ministry of Interior’s Absher digital platform.
