New 'Beautiful Earth' Campaign Tackles Our Worst Trash Habits

To encourage greater involvement in the new solid waste management system, the Ministry of Environment has launched a new green campaign called ‘Beautiful Egypt’.

The Ministry of Environment has been integrating a new solid waste management system throughout the country, starting with the Greater Cairo area. We’re talking about better waste recycling plants and tidier landfills in Abu Zaabal. As residents of Cairo we could confidently say, great, yes, we actually really need it - and we could also confidently voice our concerns that, hey, um, what if people just don’t bother to take advantage of it? All too often we’ve bore witness to the tragic sight of a pile of garbage accumulating around the base of an empty trash bin.

To encourage greater involvement in the new system, the Ministry of Environment has launched a new green campaign called ‘Beautiful Egypt’. The campaign falls under the ‘Live Green’ initiative to raise environmental consciousness and provide a model for sustainable development and ecotourism.
