New EGP 1.5 Billion Food Storage Warehouse is Being Built in Luxor
The warehouse is part of a larger government strategy to bolster food security in the country.
The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has announced plans to establish a new food warehouse in the Luxor governorate. Nearly EGP 1.5 billion will be invested in the project, with the warehouse occupying around 10 acres of land.
Construction on the warehouse is currently underway, and is expected to be complete within 18 to 24 months. The project aims to bolster food security and internal trade, and will serve the Luxor governorate as well as a further four surrounding governorates.
The establishment of this strategic warehouse in Luxor which will see the establishment of seven strategic food storage warehouses across the country. Agreements have already been concluded to establish similar warehouses in Suez, Luxor, Fayoum and Sharqeya. The project aims to raise Egypt’s classification in the Global Food Security Index.
