New Minimum Wage Starting at EGP 2,400 for Egypt's Public Workers
The announcement was made after the Ministry of Finance received a presidential directive to raise the minimum wage for government workers, which was given yesterday May 22nd, 2021.
The Ministry of Finance has unveiled new minimum wages for Egypt's public workers. The following minimum wages are scheduled to go into effect on July 1st, 2021:
Level 6 employees, which is the lowest level of government work, will have their salaries raised from EGP 2,000 to EGP 2,400.
Level 5 employees will see their salaries raised from EGP 2,200 to EGP 2,640.
Level 4 employees' salaries will be raised from EGP 2,400 to EGP 2,880.
Level 3 salaries will be raised from EGP 2,600 to EGP 3,120.
Level 2 salaries will be raised from EGP 3,000 to EGP 3,600.
Level 1 salaries will be raised from EGP 3,500 to EGP 4,200.
Salaries for government workers at even higher levels are also expected to increase.

The directives also addressed a possible raise in workers' pensions and the implementation of financial incentives in the public sector.
