Nike to Make Power Laces

Remember that scene in Back to the Future II where Marty McFly's shoe laces tightened and tied all by themselves. That.

Staff Writer

Once again a Hollywood movie about the future filled with crazy innovative products is becoming reality. Looking into the past for inspiration, Nike has announced that they will be hoping to launch the power-laces worn by Marty McFly in the classic movie Back to the Future II. In the film, Micheal J Fox found himself travelling 30 years into the future where he purchases a pair of grey trainers that automatically tightened and adjusted to fit his feet, instantly becoming part of cinematic history.

That is all about to change according to shoe designer Tinker Hatfield, who has confirmed that the "Power Laces” will arrive just in time to mark the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, and will be released in the same year Marty Mcfly travels to in Back to the Future II. Speaking to Sole Collector at the Jordan Brand Flight Lab in New Orleans, Hatfield said: "Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that I say yes!"

Hatfield is yet to reveal what shoe the power laces will be featured on, but in 2011 Nike created 1,500 limited edition replica of Marty's trainers, which were auctioned on eBay and fetched a whopping £3.5 million. The proceeds were given to the Micheal J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a disease that Micheal J Fox has been suffering with since 1990.

This is just another example of Hollywood foretelling the future, which happens more often than you think. Don't believe us? Well, there is even word that the U.S military is attempting to build their own Iron Man suit... Think about drones and the Terminator series.... We could go on and on, but at the end of the day we can't wait to get our feet in these shoes!
