One Million EGP to be Awarded to Egypt's Top Teacher

The Ministry of Education is organising a conference on Thursday to announce the launch of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Award for the Best Gulf Teacher, which comes with a monetary prize of up to one million Egyptian pounds. Among those attending the conference will be Dr. Tarek Shawki, the Minister of Education, and various education sector officials from the United Arab Emirates. The conference will take place at the Ministry of Education and many members of the press are expected to be in attendance.

Deputy Minister of Education for Teachers’ Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Omar, announced in a press conference that this is the first time the award will be open to Egyptians in its third year running. He added that the monetary prize will reach up to one million Egyptian pounds. Dr. Omar further commented that the inclusion of Egyptian teachers this year indicates that the development of Egypt’s new educational system has had a positive impact on the performance of teachers.
