Renowned Palestinian journalist Wael Al Dahdouh has just arrived in Egypt via Rafah crossing, according to Cairo 24.
Khaled El-Balshi, the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, has also disclosed that the syndicate is preparing a case to nominate colleague Wael Eldahdouh for the International Courage Award organised by UNESCO. This nomination comes in addition to the syndicate's Freedom of Press Award, which was granted to Dahdouh on January 8th.
Al Dahdouh has been the face of Al Jazeera’s 24-hour coverage of the escalated genocide in Gaza since October 7th, during which he had to report on the murder of his wife and three children, including Hamza Al Dahdouh, who was also a journalist.
Update 4:23 PM: Al Dahdouh is set to receive medical treatment in Egypt and then travel to Qatar for further medical procedures, according to Al Qahira Al Ekhbariya.
