Pope Tawadros II Inaugurates New Church in Cairo's El-Salam City

The new church was built in the Ahalina 2 Residential Project, as part of a presidential initiative to provide every residential community that is developed by the state with a church of its own.

Pope Tawadros II, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, has inaugurated the Church of the Virgin and Saint Mary of Egypt in Cairo's El-Salam City.

The new church was built in the Ahalina 2 Residential Project, as part of a presidential initiative to provide every residential community that is developed by the state with a church of its own to ensure equal opportunity for worship.

The Church of the Virgin and Saint Mary of Egypt will serve the Christian community throughout El-Salam City's neighbourhoods, specifically Ahalina 1, Ahalina 2, Ahalina 3 and Qubaa.
