Egyptian superstars and power couple Mona Zaki and Ahmed Helmy were honoured yesterday at the official opening of the Dubai Stars Walk of Fame. The opening took place at the Palace Downtown Hotel in Dubai. This makes them the first Egyptian celebrities to have been honoured by Emaar Properties, who are responsible for the avenue.

"It's exciting to have this event for all artists. It's honouring to feel somebody recognises what you do and does this beautiful star," Zaki said. "To recognise international artists in the Middle East, I think that's why Dubai is such an important place. it appreciates a lot of people not only from the Middle East but all over."

The Walk of Fame also saw Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, Lebanese phenomenon Nancy Ajram and the UAE's own Balqees Fathi receive honorary recognition and their own 'star' - which looked more like converging circles of fame - on the floor.

When the Dubai Stars Walk of Fame, located in Downtown Dubai, is complete, Emaar expects it to feature and pay homage to 10,000 local and international personalities. Emaar hopes to honour people from various fields including film, music, art, architecture, sports and literature, and - get this - social influencers too!
