Prime Minister Directs the Creation of Green Spaces All Over Egypt
The move aims to combat deforestation from construction through the ‘100 Million Trees’ presidential initiative.
In order to combat deforestation that has occurred during the construction of traffic axes, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has ordered for the implementation of the presidential initiative, ‘100 Million Trees’, across Greater Cairo as well as other governorate capitals.
The initiative will focus on planting trees which consume as little water as possible. Irrigation will be implemented through the use of waste water and a drip system in order to lessen water consumption.
In line with the presidential initiative, the Prime Minister has instructed all governors to avoid the conversion of any green spaces into commercial ones. So far, 12.4 million trees have been planted in line with the initiative.
