R.I.P. John Henson and Al-Ahram

Now, no one is immune from making mistakes, but this latest cock-up on Al-Ahram's website certainly made us chuckle....

R.I.P. John Henson and Al-Ahram

John Henson, the son of Muppets, creator Jim Henson has died from a heart attack aged 48. The heir to the Henson company is thought to have passed away at his home on Valentine's Day. He will undoubtedly be missed by many - including the staff of Al-Ahram's Arabic edition. So stricken with grief were the good men and women of Egypt's newspaper of record have decided to keep the spirit of The Muppets alive.

In the latest in a long list of cock-ups, the newspaper, which is still seen by many as a reliable news source, posted a picture of 18th century US politician John Hanson (who died in the 1783), alongside the news of the Muppet heir's death.

However, this shouldn't come as a surprise from the news outlet which, only last month, celebrated the Prophet Mohammed's "dirthday" and famously photoshopped a picture  of former tyrant Hosni Mubarak visiting the White House in 2010. In short loyal readers - when it comes to news you know who's got you covered.

And for those still puzzled at Al-Ahram we've helpfully included a shot of correct John Henson below. You're welcome.
