Yes it's Ramadan! We've been waiting all year long for this month, this beautiful wonderful holy month: a chance for us to reconnect with our friends and family, and more importantly with our own selves, without the usual debauched distractions that blight us. We can't wait to see what Mama has been up to, reclaim our throne as champions of Monopoly Deal, and dig into some konafa. It is truly a blessing to not have to deal with House music, sex and drugs for a month. Here are a lot of venues around the city where you definitely will be getting none of the aforementioned, but you will be geting a lot of other nice things too; mainly food...

On The Nile

Ramadan Fel-felucca is an incredible new concept that will allow you to experience a true sense of Egyptian heritage on beautifully renovated feluccas, which will be setting sail on the third day of Ramadan on the corniche in Maadi. Book in advance for yourself and a group, and enjoy iftar at sunset on the Nile or sohour at night. Catered by Crave, it promises no TVs, no PlayStation, no Ramadan gimmicks; just absolute tranquility on the water.


Concorde El Salam will be giving you a first class seat into Ramadan with an open buffet iftar and sohour available on their stunning veranda, veranda, verandaaaa. Sounds so classy. Once you've stuffed your mug with all of that food, you can pass out in one of their luxurious rooms for only 299 LE a night, or if you really feel like spoiling yourself grab a poolside cabina for 800 LE on weekdays and 1000 LE on weekends.

You could stay at Four Seasons Nile Plaza for a week and dine differently every day during Ramadan. Room packages are for 1000 LE a night, and you can enjoy sumptuous iftar and sohour at any one of their delectable restaurants. From sweets at Bella and an oriental buffet at the originally named Lobby Lounge, to iftar and sohour by the pool and an iftar buffet at Zitouni with prices starting from 105 LE, you can then leave in your flying Rolls Royce with a full stomach.
Recently awarded the title as one of the world's luxury hotels The Gabriel is offering up iftar and sohour at the beautiful SALT, while rooms there go for $160 a night, including sohour and a 'special gift'. We hope that special gift is a free room.
Ah the Mena House, that beautiful time capsual of luxury at the foot of the Pyramids. Where better to spend Ramadan? Enjoy iftar a their authentic Khan El Khalil restaurant for 250LE per person (15% discount if you book in the first 10 days) or sohour at the recently opened 139 Lounge overlooking the Pyramids, whose shisha will be catered by Wel3a Cafe. They'll also be airing the World Cup.
Ramses Hilton have an amazing (and very specifically priced) offer of 494 LE for a room per night that includes iftar and sohour at their Terrace Cafe, which is also open for non-guests. Buffet iftar for 245 LE and sohour for 150 LE. Meanwhile their Ayam w Layaly Ramadan tent will be opening up by the pool for sohour, shisha and oriental takht.

Intercontinental Semiramis will be providing sumptuous Ramadan buffets at The Grill, Sabaya, Pane Vino, Night and Day, as well as their recently opened Capoeira Lounge where you can watch the World Cup on big screens. 

Sofitel El Gezirah are offering up a delicious iftar and sohour at Le Deck, Sud, Kebabgy and La Palmeraie, starting from 190LE. Expext a lot of takht.

Ramadan Tents

Events Plus, Event House and Promovision have teamed up with the Fairmont Heliopolis and Towers once again to put together the biggest Ramadan kheima you'll probably see. Si Omar will also be the go-to spot to catch the big World Cup matches all the way through to the final. You can also get a taste of the authentic Egyptian cusine that you'll order at many an iftar and sohour.

Goz w Loz at Cavallini wil be sure to wrap you around in a whirlwind of Ramadan authenticity, open for iftar and sohour.
Fairmont Nile City comes back again with another unique Ramadan concept, this time taking inspiration from the folkloric theatre show, El Leila El Kebeea (ask your parents). Enjoy your iftar  with a breeze at Bab El Nil, and wile away the hours all the way til dawn at the decadent rooftop venue.
Traditional entertainment on show at Dandy Mall, plus you can enjoy sohour at their El So7bageya kheima.
Event Republic are back with one of the funnest and youngest Ramadan tents again this year, with Wahawi on top of Le Pacha in Zamalek. Enjoy a tasty iftar or sohour by the Nile, where you can also watch the World Cup and play PlayStation or a variety of board games available. 
La Gourmandise take over The First Mall for a massive luxurious Ramadan tent, offering an iftar buffet and an a la carte menu, or family style sohour menu.
The Lemon Tree will be adding a zest of lamoon to your Ramadan with their kheima Lemonada. Serving iftar and sohour with a special live feteer station, plus shisha available all night.
The Pepsi Zone is a massive lounge in City Stars, featuring giant screens to watch the World Cup, lounge sofas, PlaySations and games. But the best part of all is that it is catered by Abdel Wahab Lebanese restaurant and open for iftar and sohour.
Le Lido Cluhouse comes over all Ramadan-y as the open up Bushret Kheir, their new Ramadan Kheima at their Pool Garden. Catered by Crave, their soups and salads open buffet rivals most, while you get to choose your main course. For Sohour, there's a special a la carte menu combining traditional favourites.
Restaurants & Cafes
Abdel Wahab in Zamalek and City Stars will also be hosting you hungry hippos for delicious Lebanese iftar and sohour at their venues.
If Lebanese is your thing then Cafe Blanc will also be serving up a delectable iftar and sohour at their Sheikh Zeyad and North Coast venues.
At Carlo's in La Pacha West eat away to your stomach's content with their iftar buffet and a la carte sohour, and there will also be an open buffet for iftar at River Boat for 210LE.
If you're a Katameya/Fifth Settlement resident then you'll be delighted to know that the beautiful Mojo's will be offering up some delicious nom noms for iftar and sohour.
Beautiful new Italian restaurant Dal Forno in Heliopolis will be serving up iftar and sohour.
Enjoy a swanky iftar and sohour with a view at the gorgeous Riverside hotel in Zamalek.
 The rustic Sevengrains in Downtown Katemeya will be serving up an ambrosial iftar and sohour throughout the month.
Feast like the Lebanese do at Tamara in City Stars. Exquisite iftar set menu for just 170LE.
Head to Tipsy Teapot in Maadi for a quaint set menu iftar, which includes everything your taste buds will be aching for come iftar time, including one of their special smoothies.
Eat food just like your Mama would make at home with Kozbara catering at Geziarah Club throughout Ramadan.
Burgerque, everyone's favorite new gourmet burget spot in Maadi, will be serving up a three course iftar menu, including your choice of appetizer, salad and burger for just 99 LE, and a sohour menu of traditional Egyptian cuisine for 59LE. Shisha by We3la. Yum.
