The Ministry of Social Solidarity has launched a new football league to help recovering substance abuse patients regain their footing.

Dubbed ‘El Ta’afy Botola’ and established under the Substance Abuse Treatment Fund, the football league is part of a series of national services to help substance abuse patients integrate themselves into society while dispelling the social stigma around substance abuse, and normalising its treatment as a disease.

The fund’s hotline, 16023, offers free treatment services. In the first quarter of 2023, the hotline was used to help 42,638 patients.
