Responsible Parties for Minya Rail Accident to be Sent to Prosecution
The measures to be taken by the Minister are in line with ensuring that no acts of negligence on the rail occur in future.
Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir has announced that the Ministry will hold all those responsible for the recent train accident at Minya to account, and that they will be referred to public prosecution. Investigations will be made into all drivers, tower observers and operating engineers concerned.
Legal and disciplinary measures will be made to ensure that no further acts of negligence on the railways will occur in future. The minister remarked that holding those responsible to account is of crucial importance in maintaining accountability in the transportation sector.
As of the time of writing, one death and 20 injuries have been reported from the train accident.
