Not only is the ride-sharing app a sponsor of the competition, but it's offering a great solution for fans.

It's almost time. The biggest football competition in Africa is on the horizon, with Egyptian fans officially in a frenzy over the African Cup of Nations, which, if you haven't heard, is set to be held right here in Om El Donia. If there’s one frustration that plagues fans, however, it’s the loom of the commute, the queuing and any number of other out-of-the-blue surprises that have become a trademark of day-to-day life in Egypt - but we'll get to that in a second.

Kicking off on Friday 21st of June with Egypt facing Zimbabwe, the tournament will be held across 6 of Egypt's largest stadiums, the biggest of which, Cairo International Stadium, can hold a mammoth 74,000 fans. Of course, anyone wanting to attend the matches will have to make sure you have your Fan ID and, as is the case with much of life, it's good sense to be punctual and even arrive a little bit ahead of time - early bird gets the worm.

Now, you could get a taxi - but experts are estimating that 99.9999% off all taxi drivers will be sat either at home or at an ahwa to watch the match. Metro? Cairo's subway is immensely packed at the best of times. Step forward Swvl.

The popular ride-sharing app in Egypt and official sponsor is facilitating this thorniest of process for all fans, bringing the convenience and affordability that has made it one of the most impressive success stories in Egypt's increasingly crowded and competitive entrepreneurial ecosystem to the table.

Swvl's picked the nearest drop-off points to the stadiums, so you could conveniently pop in and out of the games hassle-free, with a designated parking are for Swvl fleets. And for an extra special ride, why not book a ‘Private Bus’ so you and your friends can chant, holler, and stay stoked through the anticipation.

Here’s a quick guide to the simple steps of using Swvl to keep the hype up, even on the way to the stadiums.

For your standard Swvl booking:

Download the Swvl app on the App Store for iOS or Google Play on Android, after launching the app click on ‘Where To’, and select the match for the day. This will redirect you to a page where you can choose your pick-up location and confirm your booking.

For the ‘Private Bus’ booking:

Launch the app, and at the bottom of the screen, click ‘swipe to explore’. Scroll down to ‘Request a private bus’, click on the option, and then choose your pick-up location. You’ll have the option to pick between two types of private buses. After sorting that, you’ll just need to choose the date and time, and you’ll be asked to pay through Fawry.

Don’t fret for any seesawing rates during matches, Swvl has set a fixed rate of 10 EGP throughout the tournament.
