Saudi Arabia Launches Digital Program for People With Disabilities
The program aims to facilitate digital accessibility for individuals living with disabilities as well as for the elderly.
In a joint effort to enhance digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities and the elderly, Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and the Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, introduced the ‘Digital Inclusion Program’.
The program aims to promote the independent and secure utilization of digital government services among these target groups by encouraging government agencies to embrace the concept of digital inclusion and developing innovative digital solutions tailored to their specific needs.
The Digital Inclusion Program seeks to facilitate the access of people with disabilities and the elderly to services, and enhance their interaction with them. A number of initiatives will help keep the systems up to date, such as the issuing of digital accessibility standards, following up on compliance with them through the ‘Digital Experience Maturity Index’ for digital platforms, and the launch of the Digital Inclusion Laboratory to test the readiness of assistive technologies to improve access, in addition to providing special services through the ‘Amer’ Center.
