Sinai's New City to Host One Million Residents

Salam is set to host a business, administrative and educational district.

Sinai is set to witness the launch of a major economic capital to be named "Salam," east of Port Said. The capital will be amongst four economic cities, the remaining three of which are also planned to be built in Sinai. Salam is currently considered one of the biggest Egyptian national projects and will host the biggest water sanitation plant in Africa.

The plans call for the development of a commercial strip by the port of the city, in addition to various yacht berths. Salam is anticipated to be the first city in Sinai to host a population of one million or more residents. It will be spread over 25 thousand feddans, including a financial district similar to Cairo's New Administrative Capital.

Salam will also include a smaller city dedicated to fashion, as well as a district set to host scientific research centres and an educational city. The city will be home to an international airport in addition to two sea ports. The launch of Salam is expected to significantly boost Egypt's economic, educational, scientific development and is set to do wonders for economic expansion beyond the bounds of Cairo.
