Sir Magdi Yacoub Instates the Largest Pharmaceutical Research Center in Egypt

Sir Magdi Yacoub, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Imperial College London, inaugurated the Mounir Armanious Research Center (MARC) on Sunday. The MARC is to be Egypt's largest center specialized in pharmaceutical sciences.

According to Yacoub, the MARC will be able to provide diagnoses for an array of diseases. The facility will also develop foreign pharmaceuticals until it's possible to produce pharmaceuticals made wholly in Egypt.

The center brings together 80 pharmacist and chemist researchers and aims to certify new pharmaceutical research, states Riad Armanios, chairman of EVA Pharma Company and founder of the MARC.

Laila Gad, director of the MARC, added that the center is equipped with the latest drug-making technology necessary for creating various kinds of medications including tablets, capsules and plasters.
