Social Development Minister Announces Family Guidance Strategy
The strategy will enhance the skills of family guidance professionals and expand the provision of family counseling services.
During the 7th edition of the 2024 Family Forum, Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rahji, launched the Family Guidance Strategy. Under the slogan ‘Family and family guidance build strength from within in a changing world’, the strategy includes more than 12 initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of professionals working in the family guidance field. These initiatives focus on improving family relations, resolving conflicts, and supporting family stability.
The strategy also aims to expand the scope of family services by increasing geographical coverage and providing services to as many beneficiaries as possible across the kingdom. To achieve this, 500 new licenses will be issued, bringing the total number of family counseling practitioners to 4,000.
The final strategy was the result of several stages of planning and consultation, including over 12 workshops with the participation of 13 governmental and private entities. It also involved benchmarking against similar international and regional initiatives in the field.
