There's defending animal rights and then there are the Swiss. A group of Swiss tourists who visit Egypt often saw something that upset them and they decided to do something about it. They saw the daily occurrence of a man beating his donkey in Sakkara and simply decided to buy the animal to save it, medically treat it, and even take the donkey to Switzerland with them.

After having spent 800 Euros (16,000 EGP) on the animal, they managed to get the saved animal to their home country. But that wasn't the end of it. The tourists turned to legal advice to take action against thee animal abuser, accusing him of torture towards the animal. Emad ElShalakany, a managing partner in the Shalakany Law Office, told Albursa newspaper that the tourists had sought his advice to take the necessary legal action against the donkey owner.
