Switzerland's Yves Theiler Trio Justifies The 'Jazz' In Cairo Jazz Club

Stop the presses! Or the Twitter feed, or whatever is the 21st century equivalent of the presses! The Yves Theiler Trio - an honest to goodness Jazz trio from Switzerland - is coming to CJC!

 

The acclaimed pianist and his two cohorts - bassist Yuri Goloubev and drummer Lukas Mantel - are prepared to put the ‘Jazz' back in Cairo Jazz Club with their first performance in Egypt. Educated at the K&S Art School For Exceptionally Talented Instrumentalists, Yves Theiler’s music is a multifarious breed of booming, cross-rhythmic, and sometimes atonal Jazz that stimulates not only your earholes but also whatever part of your brain it is that’s responsible figuring out hard math. 

 

The trio's debut, Out of the Box, was released in 2012 to much critical acclaim and their performance at CJC on Sunday March 27th is exciting for any fans of crazy face-melting Jazz in the region.
