She is the first Egyptian woman to reach the main draw of a Grand Slam at the 2020 French Open, and the first to win a Grand Slam main-draw match at the 2021 Australian Open. Now it seems Mayar Sherif just can't stop making history after reaching the final round of Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour, where she went head-to-head against Germany's Andrea Petkovic at the Winners Open in Cluj-Napoca.

Although her German counterpart ultimately won the Tour, Sherif's accomplishments haven't gone unnoticed, having beaten several of the WTA's highest ranked players to get to her level. Sherif earned her first completed Top 100 victory by beating  Alizé Cornet, the then-No.1 seed who is currently ranked 59 in the world. To put it into perspective, Mayar Sherif is currently ranked 119 by the WTA. She then went on to defeat junior World No.2 Alexandria Eala, Gdynia finalist Kristina Kucova, and former World No.20 Mihaela Buzarnescu.
