The Nile Corniche and Any Parks and Beaches Are Fully Closed Until Further Notice
The decision came ahead of the Sham El Nessim holidays this Monday.
Khaled Qassem, spokesman for the Ministry of Local Development, has announced that the Nile Corniche as well as every other beach and park will undergo closure until further notice, in order to preserve public health during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The new closures come in light of the upcoming Sham El Nessim holiday this Monday, when crowds are likely to gather to celebrate. Alexandria has closed 61 beaches so far and removed most food and drink carts off of the streets in order to reduce crowding in the beachfront areas.
Within the tourist and industrial sites that are still open, precautionary measures have been taken for the employees working there such as medical masks, and are being directly supervised by the ministry to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
