Earlier in May, during Eid Al-Fitr, the Ministry of Culture launched ‘The People’s Cinema’ (Cinema Al-Sha’b) project, which would screen contemporary Egyptian films at prices that are accessible to all members of society at cultural sites. Now just in time for the Eid Al-Adha holiday they’re coming out with the third phase of the initiative with screenings of three films - Keira W El Jinn, Ammohom, and Bahebbek - across an even greater number of venues.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and the various cultural palaces and cinema houses in Egypt’s governorates associated with the General Authority for Cultural Places. With prices across the country having reached an astounding EGP 100 per ticket, this initiative has worked at lowering prices to only EGP 40.

While the initiative’s first phase had launched in Eid Al-Fitr through showcasing one film, however, it only did so in the governorates of Alexandria, Qena, Giza, and Menufiya. After its massive success, the second phase launched towards the end of May, taking over five more venues in five more governorates. These new venues are in Kafr El Sheikh, Desouk, Siwa, Al Wadi Al Gedeed, and Sharm El Sheikh.
