The Top 5 Things Egyptians Googled in 2021

It's been topsy turvy year, full of good and bad - something refelected in the most Googled people and topics in Egypt.

It's the end of another year, so unless there's any giant world-changing upsets within the next couple of weeks (don't jinx it!), Google has deemed it appropriate to lock down and share the trendiest search terms of 2021. And when it comes to Egyptians, the results aren't too surprising.

The most searched term is 'Al-Ahly Club', which enjoyed great success in the 2021 CAF Super Cup in Qatar and the Champions League Final in Morocco. In second place are test results for Thanaweya Ama, which makes sense considering the uncertainty that surrounded exam taking due to pandemic concerns. Which may explain why, in third place, Egyptians have been frantically googling about how to register for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Coming in at fourth is the iconic Sherihan, who Egyptians have gone crazy for after that jaw-dropping Ramadan ad and her theatrical comeback with Coco Chanel. Finally, at fifth place, we have been obsessively keeping track of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, where our athletes won six medals overall - the greatest number of Olympic medals earned by Egypt at one time in Olympic history.
