These Unexpected Sports are Set to Make a Splash by the Giza Pyramids

The Great Pyramids of Giza have served as the backdrop for all manner of marathons and squash tournaments. But soon, they will also overlook not one, not two, but three different aquatic sporting events amidst the desert sands of Giza for the first time.

The Egyptian Swimming Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have signed an agreement with Fédération Internationale De Natation (FINA) - a federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee for administering global water sports events - to host a series of championships, specifically the FINA High Diving World Cup (2023-2024), the Diving Grand Prix (2023-2026) and the 2023 Artistic Swimming World Series.

Although we don't know how exactly the events will be set up or the full details of where they will take place, there are plans to establish temporary pools and diving platforms roughly 18 km from the Nile.
