This Egyptian Jewellery Brand will Bring a Folkloric Flair to Your Look
Their tasteful authenticity will make every outfit a little more baladi.
Specialising in handmade jewellery inspired by Egyptian folk art, Ayoub Design’s pieces tell the story of the country’s artistic and cultural heritage by playing on valued traditions like the Birth of the Prophet, Sufi Whirling Dervishes and Bedouin embroidery.
Having won Bronze at the Cairo Design Awards 2018, Ayoub Design offer accessories as well as handbags and cushions. Their pieces are all handmade and made in Egypt, drawing from folkloric inspiration and utilizing traditional techniques. From genuine leathers, to brass and copper, to stones like Turquoise and Red Coral, the use of natural materials is essential to the brand's authenticity.
Having graduated Helwan University's School of Fine Arts, Amira Ayoub founded Ayoub Design in late 2012. Ayoub still holds the title of Head Designer - indeed, for a long time she maintained her position as the only designer - and now has Rawan Mostafa on board as Operation Manager. What started as a one-woman show - with Ayoub herself designing, making and showcasing her creations - has now turned into a workshop, which not only employs young female artisans but also trains them.
You can find Ayoub Design on Instagram, Facebook and on ground in their showroom in Maadi and places like Townhouse Gallery in Downtown Cairo, Creative Egypt Showroom in El Dokki, Bashayer Gallery and ABnG in Zamalek and Ego in Downtown Cairo Mall.
