This Year's Cairo International Exhibition for Innovation to Be Held Online
The seventh edition of the exhibition may be held virtually due to the risks of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis
Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has announced that they are planning to hold this year's Cairo International Exhibition for Innovation online. The exhibition has taken place every October by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for the past six years, and its seventh iteration will be the first to hold a largely virtual presence.
The decision was reached after considering the risks of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Past conferences were organized at the Al-Manara Center for Conferences and Exhibitions. The sixth edition of the exhibition took up an area of 10 thousand square metres, holding 1,500 pieces and 8,000 visitors. The exhibition also had thousands of rejections due to space limitations. With a move to a virtual space, Dr. Amr Farouk - assistant to the president of the Academy for Technological Development - expressed hopes that every Egyptian inventor and innovator will have the opportunity to show the world what they've got, while reducing the cost of exhibition by half.
