Thousands of Egyptian Women to Receive Free Breast Cancer Tests as Part of New Nationwide Initiative

Today, Egypt launched a breast cancer detection campaign that will be offer thousands of women across the country free tests, as reported by Egypt Independent. Targeted at all women above the age of 18, the first stage of the initiative will offer tests at dedicated health centres across Alexandria, Port Said, Matrouh, Qalyubia, Beheira, Assiut, Fayoum, South Sinai and Damietta.

According to breast cancer hospital, Baheya, 34% of Egyptian women suffer from breast cancer. The issue has been discussed publicly this year, with President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi proposing the launch of a a special fund during a Women's Day ceremony in March and Egypt's Minister of Health keen to raise awareness of the steps Egyptian women can take to maintain a better lifestyle.
