There is no better feeling than creating an empire of your own. However, empires don't rise overnight - they begin with an idea that becomes a start-up, and with the right knowledge, that start-up can eventually become the business of your dreams. Looking to provide future entrepreneurs with the tools and education required to turn ideas into a start-up in only 54 hours is Startup Weekend Cairo.

Taking place at Greek Campus in Downtown Cairo, Startup Weekend Cairo is the only start-up conference with the goal of turning ideas into start-ups by the end of the conference. The 54-hour clock starts with registration at 4pm on Thursday September 18th. After registering, a variety of speakers, coaches and community leaders - both technical and non-technical - will take the stage divulging their experience with start-ups. Honoured guests that will be sharing their industry secrets on stage and acting as coaches include: Khaled Bichara (CEO and Co-Founder of Accelero Capital), Mostafa Farahat (Co-founder & GM of Nafham), Shaymaa Gaafar (Sr. IS Analyst for North Africa, Phillip Morris International), Nezar Sami (Director, Division of Professional Development, Nile University), as well as MO4 Network founders Amy and Adam Mowafi, among others.

The pitching begins around 7pm, and all pitches are heard one at a time. After all the pitches are in, attendees will then vote on the best ideas and split into groups based on the inventory of skills to actualise them.

On Friday, the real work begins and with the helpful guide of experienced coaches, each team begins turning the ideas into a proper presentation for a start-up. Final presentations are due at 5pm on Saturday, and will be judged and awarded prizes by Khaled Bichara, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Accelero Capital.

Tickets for the event are available online and for those excited we strongly recommend getting early bird tickets (LE135 – LE180). Late bird tickets will go on sale on September 15th and range from LE180 – LE290. In either case the entry fee is a bargain, as you would be hard-pressed to turn an idea into a start-up for less. Considering how many diverse mentors will be lending their expertise, this weekend definitely stands out and will be truly valuable it for those serious about building an empire.
