The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has signed an MoU with FHI 360, a non-profit human development organisation partnered with USAID, to launch the Integrated Management of Cultural Tourism (IMCT) project in Egypt. The IMCT project will support heritage and sustainable tourism by encouraging private investment in public heritage tourism projects, with a focus on Luxor and Historic Cairo. Among the goals of the project is to support economic inclusion of women, youth, and local communities.

Over the past 25 years, USAID contributed around USD 100 million for the preservation of heritage sites in Egypt, including Aswan and Alexandria.
