The name Mohamed Salah is well known in Egypt. As it stands, he is likely the best Egyptian player currently. Salah has gained notoriety playing for the Swiss team Basel as an offensive midfielder even scoring against powerhouse Chelsea in the group stages of the Champions League. Now the internet is set a blaze with rumours that the UK's Liverpool FC will be making a formal bid for the winger this week. The club has been planning the move for the Egyptian since the January transfer window opened. The only obstacle right now is the Salah's valuation of £12 million. Liverpool is currently offering £8 million, and upon hearing this rumour Newcastle United has decided to jump in the chase with an undisclosed offer.

If Salah receives this, he will surpass Mido as the highest valued and highest paid Egyptian player in history. Negotiations will be taking place in the next few days and Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, is hoping to make a significant purchase to be able to add a much needed defender to the squad. Speculation has it that they are currently have their eye on Aston Villa's Ryan Bertrand, who is reportedly a long-term target for Basel managers.

Hopefully this deal goes through and Salah becomes the highest paid Egyptian player, as it will definitely shine a light on Egyptian footballers as a whole. We have a lot of talent that goes unnoticed in this country; if we didn't then Egypt wouldn't have made the biggest move on this years FIFA's ranking.
