The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir celebrated 200 years of Egyptology with the grand opening of its library and archive on World Tourism Day.
The inauguration of the library turns the Egyptian Museum into one of if not the richest resource for books and journals on Egyptology, allowing scholars and enthusiasts alike to more easily access its wealth of knowledge.
Throughout the day, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities cancelled entrance fees to all museums across Egypt, resulting in an unprecedented turnout at sites such as the Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
