Wrestler Samar Hamza is 1st Egyptian Woman at World Championship Final

At the Wrestling World Championships in Serbia, 27 year old champion Samar Hamza has once again made Egyptian wrestling history.

Egyptian athlete Samar Hamza made it into the final rounds of the Wrestling World Championships, becoming the first Egyptian woman in history to do so.

The championships are currently being held in Serbia, where Hamza beat Estonian Epp Mäe 3-2 in the semifinal of the +76 kg freestyle event.

At 27 years old, Hamza has built an accomplished wrestling career, having represented Egypt in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She was also the first Egyptian woman to win a Wrestling World Championship medal, when she previously earned the bronze medal in 2021.
